Biography

Nasir Almasri is a PhD candidate in comparative politics and security studies. He studies the intersection of religion, politics, and violence with a particular interest in Islamist opposition groups in authoritarian regimes. Most of his research is based in West Asia and North Africa. Nasir holds a BS in Political Science and a BA in History from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago. He also worked as a research analyst for the Program on Political Violence and the Chicago Project on Security and Threats.
