Biography

Hao Zhang is a PhD candidate in Political Economy and Methodology. His research focuses on the political economy of global production, state-business relations, applied statistical models, and formal political theory. His dissertation examines how the rise of global value chains reshape trade coalitions across and within national borders, with regional focuses on US and China. His work has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science and The Chinese Journal of International Politics.
 
Prior to MIT, he received a bachelor's degree in International Political Economy from Renmin University of China, a master's degree in International Politics from Tsinghua University, and a second master's degree in International Economics and China Studies from Johns Hopkins SAIS.
