The World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) has announced the winner of the 2021 WAPOR Helen Dinerman award, Takashi Inoguchi, Eminent Scholar-Professor at J.F. Oberlin University in Tokyo. The Helen Dinerman Award, given since 1981, honors particularly significant contributions to survey research methodology.

Professor Inoguchi earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at MIT in 1974, and became a prolific author on Japanese politics, international affairs, and quality of life in Asia. His expertise is wide-ranging – from public opinion research and Japanese elections and voting behavior to comparative politics with the Asia Barometer and the global quality-of-life studies, as well as his latest multilateral treaty participation project involving 193 countries.
