In this workshop, we will be demonstrating the computational capacity of MIT Political Science’s own high-performance computing machine ("xvii"). All attendees will gain preliminary access to xvii. We will begin with a review of basic shell commands for remote computing. We will then discuss effective remote computing workflows as well as specific libraries to best leverage xvii’s computing power for social science research. No prior knowledge is needed besides a basic familiarity with R.
