We hope you will join us at the annual Boston-area Working Group on African Political Economy (B-WGAPE) workshop, to be held at MIT on December 8, 2017.

We are very pleased that Robert Bates, Eaton Professor of the Science of Government at Harvard University will deliver a keynote address.

As usual, we will discuss several works-in-progress, and we invite you to submit working papers or well-developed research designs for consideration on the program.

In addition, this year, we will host an “African Political-Economy Hack-a-Thon,” open to PhD students from Economics, Political Science and related departments at Boston-area universities. Participants will be assigned to teams, and a few days before the conference, teams will be challenged to develop a design for a critical research question. During the workshop, teams will present their designs and compete for a prize and for pride. (We will send more information once we have a sense of interest level…)

If you are interested in attending the workshop, submitting a paper, and/or participating in the hack-a-thon, please RSVP here: https://goo.gl/forms/l4fhS2ARw9pszj2s2 before October 27th.
