
Bridget Schippers
Biography
Bridget is a PhD student interested in the intersection of American politics and political economy, and specifically in how institutions, such as interest groups, local governments, and parties, strategically shape and deploy public opinion in the United States. This is particularly consequential for areas such as siting politics, where the uptake of the clean energy transition and AI infrastructure are highly variable based on public opinion towards projects and the preferences and capacity of local governments.
Bridget holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame, with minors in Data Science, Public Service, and Philosophy Politics and Economics. Prior to joining MIT, Bridget spent time working on campaigns, in a Congressional office, and on social policy with the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities.
