U.S. Representative from the 4th District of Kentucky and MIT alumnus Thomas Massie generously shared his time, expertise, and advice with students in our MIT Washington Summer Internship Program and the University of Virginia Policy Internship Program. Rep. Massie received his SB in 1993 and SM in 1996.

During a visit to the U.S. Capitol, interns enjoyed a valuable firsthand look at Congress in action. They met with Rep. Massie's Chief of Staff, observed debate on the House floor regarding a war powers resolution, and received a fascinating history lesson on the 1824 presidential election from Representative Massie in the Capitol Rotunda.

This summer, 17 undergraduates represent the MIT Washington Summer Internship Program at placements that include the U.S. Department of Defense, World Bank, U.S. Department of Transportation, Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments, and Future of Privacy Forum.
