Biography

Erik Sand is a PhD candidate in international relations and security studies. His dissertation Sharing Vulcan’s Secrets: Technology Diffusion and International Power explores why states choose to share advanced military technology with other states. His broader research interests include the political economy of security, escalation and deterrence, grand strategy, maritime issues, and nuclear weapons. He holds a Masters of Engineering Management from Old Dominion University and an A.B. in History from Harvard University. He also a Surface Warfare Officer in the Navy Reserve.
